Fairfield mother, man accused of torturing 10 children in squalor

A Fairfield man and woman were arrested for torturing 10 children and forcing them to live in squalor, police said Monday. Officers first encountered the family when their 12-year-old was reported missing on March 31, police said. After the child was found and returned to the home on the 2200 block of Fieldstone Court, responding officers conducted a search due to concerns for the children’s welfare. The officers found nine more children between 4 months and 11 years old living in conditions police described as squalid and unsafe.
