Flooding prompted a severe traffic alert on southbound Interstate 280 and southbound Highway 87 near San Jose, officials said. “A large pool of water” was first reported just after 4:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP issued the traffic alert after the connector ramps were shut down. The right lanes on southbound 280 and 87 were closed as of 6:20 a.m. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and there is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.
