Skeletal remains were discovered this week inside a shoe on a beach in Mendocino County about a mile from the cliff Jennifer Hart drove off in a sports utility vehicle containing her wife and adopted children, officials said. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a call Wednesday night after a local resident found jeans with a shoe entangled on a beach near the mouth of Hardy Creek, just north of the crash site. “The jeans were a girl’s size 10 regular and the shoe appeared to be a 3.5 U.S. big kid size and/or 5.5 women’s U.S. size,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Upon inspection, it was determined skeletal remains of what appeared to be a human foot was inside of the shoe.
