Fatal crash near Hwy. 101 in Palo Alto snarls commute

A fatal two-car crash occurred Thursday morning on the Oregon Expressway at West Bayshore Road, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. The collision on the eastbound lanes shut down access to Highway 101, police said. Motorists are being rerouted to Embarcadero or San Antonio roads. The access point is expected to remain closed for several hours. No other information was immediately available on the crash. A high wind advisory has also been issued for the Benicia-Martinez Bridge. Two other people died earlier Thursday after a car drove into the side of a house in Bay Point, authorities said. The collision occurred at 12:51 a.m.
