Supreme Court rejects Trump bid for speedy review of DACA ruling

The Supreme Court on Monday rebuffed President Trump’s request to bypass a federal appeals court and speedily review Trump’s authority to abolish an Obama administration program that protects nearly 700,000 young, undocumented immigrants from deportation. The court’s action will apparently preserve Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, for at least a year while the case moves through the normal appellate process. DACA, established by President Barack Obama’s executive order in 2012, allows two-year reprieves from deportation and work permits to immigrants who entered the U.S. without authorization before age 16, had lived in the U.S.
