Scores of people gathered in downtown Sacramento on Saturday afternoon for a rally organized by former Warriors and Kings basketball player Matt Barnes in protest of the fatal police shooting of Stephon Clark. The rally at Cesar Chavez Plaza comes on the heels of two weeks of demonstrations after Clark, who was reportedly unarmed, was killed March 18 in South Sacramento. Sacramento police officers shot Clark eight times — six times in the back— according to the findings of an independent autopsy released Friday. The killing prompted the NBA’s Sacramento Kings to partner with Black Lives Matter Sacramento and the Build. Black. Coalition to create an education fund for Clark’s two young sons.
