It didn’t take long for spring to bring record temperatures to the Bay Area, as clear skies and sunshine translated into unusually warm days across the region. After a spell of cool and rainy days last week due to a “Pineapple Express” storm, dubbed for its origins over Hawaii, temperatures soared this week to reach record highs for the date on Thursday. Downtown San Francisco’s 81 degrees on Thursday beat out 1987’s record 79 degrees. Records were also broken in San Jose and Santa Rosa with temperatures of 82 and 86, topping the 81 and 84 degrees both reached in 1968, respectively. Oakland tied its 1968 record high with a temperature of 77 degrees.
