Autopsy shows police shot Clark 8 times — 6 in the back

The unarmed African American man fatally shot last week by Sacramento police was hit eight times in the back, side and leg, said Dr. Bennet Omalu, a pathologist who on Friday released an independent autopsy he conducted on Stephon Clark. Ben Crump, an attorney who represents the Clark family and organized Friday’s news conference, said that Clark’s back wounds counter police accounts that the man was advancing on officers when they fired. The front leg wound, he added, was only sustained as Clark was falling. “We believe the truth is a crucial step into getting justice,” Crump said. “You will see the findings of (Omalu’s) autopsy contradict many of the narratives that the Sacramento police put forward.
