Pink delivers on national anthem despite battling flu

Following an NFL season marked by players protesting inequality and police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem, the main question surrounding the Super Bowl anthem was simply how Pink’s voice would hold up. The recording artist, who had announced Saturday on Instagram that she was battling the flu, nailed her performance before kickoff between the Patriots and Eagles. According to the New York Times, no players demonstrated during the anthem by kneeling or raising a fist. Pink wrote on her Instagram that she’d caught the flu from her “two small Petri dish kids.” But it didn’t stop her from delivering a strong rendition of the anthem - after taking out her gum.
