The Raiders released Aldon Smith on Monday, a day after San Francisco police confirmed they were looking for Smith in connection with a domestic violence incident over the weekend. It is the latest in a series of legal troubles for Smith, 28, who remains suspended by the NFL for violation of its substance abuse policy. The Raiders announced Monday’s transaction in a terse one-line statement: “The Oakland Raiders have released LB Aldon Smith.” A first-round draft pick by the 49ers in 2011, Smith has not played in the league since 2015.
