One person was killed in a major fire that erupted late Saturday in a residential building in San Francisco, authorities said. The blaze started just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday in a home at 1808-1810 Eighth Avenue, near the corner of Noriega Street in the Sunset District, and heavily damaged three homes, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The Medical Examiner was working to identify the victim, fire officials said Sunday. One firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, which quickly rose to a third alarm, and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
