Active shooter at YouTube results in brief Hwy 280 shutdown

A stretch of Highway 280 was closed for about 15 minutes due to the active shooter at YouTube headquarters Tuesday afternoon, officials said. All lanes of southbound 280 were shut just north of Interstate 380, as well as northbound to eastbound connector. “It was closed for public safety,” said Officer Todd Smith, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol. “It’s now diminished enough to open the lanes back up again.” Smith said that he estimated the highway was closed for about 12-15 minutes. “It’s recovering now,” he said. Police have closed down the area surrounding the company’s headquarters.
