A San Francisco police officer who is Muslim and emigrated from Afghanistan said Tuesday that fellow officers and superiors subjected him to “blatant racism and bigotry” in his first two years with the department, and that he witnessed sexual and racist misconduct against citizens. The officer, who spoke at a news conference arranged by city Public Defender Jeff Adachi but asked not to be identified by name, said he came forward because he “lost faith” after reporting the alleged misconduct in November to his department’s Internal Affairs Bureau and later to the city’s Department of Human Resources.
